HORIZON-CL6-2026-02-FARM2FORK-11: National Agri-Food Technology Center (CTAEX)

CTAEX is a private non-profit R&D centre in Extremadura founded in 2000 by agri-food entities. It works across the agri-food value chain, focusing on agricultural and food research structured around sustainability, diversification and ICT. CTAEX brings together 70 partners from key agri-food sectors and supports innovation and technology transfer to enhance sustainability, competitiveness and circularity. It has experimental farms, food pilot plants, authorized seed and GMO activities, and strong expertise in by-product valorisation, process optimisation, digitalisation and knowledge transfer.

CTAEX has established research capacities based on a holistic systems perspective to study microbiomes and their interactions with hosts and environments, with a strong focus on sustainable and resilient agri-food systems aligned with the One Health approach. It investigates microbiome structure and function using targeted molecular tools, including PCR and gene expression analyses, and provides reference strains, protocols and quality control for biobanking and data sharing. This expertise is demonstrated through projects such as NEOBIOFERT, FermentaVeg_4GUT, BIOFERCANN and NEWCOTIANA.
