Cluster 1: Association of Popular Universities of Extremadura (AUPEX)
- WHO WE ARE:
AUPEX is a non-profit organization representing 220 rural municipalities in Extremadura (Spain). It works as a network for education, culture, social and digital inclusion, civic participation and sustainability. AUPEX has over 290 staff and reaches more than 100,000 participants annually through lifelong learning, employment and digital skills programs, cultural and heritage actions, social intervention, international cooperation, digital literacy centres, Circular FABs for innovation, and initiatives aligned with the SDGs.
- WHAT WE OFFER:
AUPEX contributes to Horizon HLTH ENVHLTH calls through community-based research, citizen engagement and capacity building. It supports participatory data collection, vulnerability mapping and social impact assessment on climate–health risks, focusing on rural and vulnerable populations. AUPEX designs training and awareness actions on climate and health literacy, coordinates pilot demonstrations with municipalities, and facilitates stakeholder engagement, policy uptake and replication at local, regional and national levels, strengthening climate resilience and low-carbon practices.
