Join the Horizon Europe (Cluster 2) proposal on safeguarding and enhancing cultural heritage along historic European routes
The University of Salerno (Italy) is leading a proposal for the upcoming Horizon Europe Cluster 2 call, focused on developing innovative approaches for the safeguarding, enjoyment, and enhancement of tangible and intangible cultural heritage linked to ancient European routes. The project aims to serve as a driver for social resilience and territorial cohesion in rural and marginal areas.
Using the Via Appia – Regina Viarum, recently inscribed as a UNESCO serial site, as a pilot case, the initiative seeks to create replicable models for other historical routes across Europe. It will work in close synergy with local communities, territorial authorities, and civil society organizations, within a transnational and interdisciplinary consortium of universities, research institutions, digital heritage actors, and policy centers.
The project adopts an inclusive and sustainable approach, with a strong focus on soft mobility, local knowledge, transhumance, traditions, and territorial vocations as contemporary expressions of a regenerative cultural economy. Specific measures will be implemented to ensure gender equality, non-discrimination, and the reduction of structural gaps throughout the entire project lifecycle.
Partners are sought exclusively for research and innovation activities. The consortium is looking for universities, research and innovation centres, public authorities, and policy makers. Partners for dissemination or management tasks are not needed.
Expressions of interest should be sent to cspc.dispac@unisa.it (preferably including your organisation’s PIF – Partner Information Form).
