Horizon Missions: Association of Popular Universities of Extremadura (AUPEX)

AUPEX is a non-profit organization representing 220 rural municipalities in Extremadura (Spain). It works as a network for education, culture, social and digital inclusion, civic participation and sustainability. AUPEX has over 290 staff and reaches more than 100,000 participants annually through lifelong learning, employment and digital skills programs, cultural and heritage actions, social intervention, international cooperation, digital literacy centres, Circular FABs for innovation, and initiatives aligned with the SDGs.

AUPEX supports Horizon Missions on climate adaptation, cultural heritage and soil resilience by bridging R&I results with local and regional authorities. It translates complex research into practical tools, delivers multilingual capacity building through its territorial networks, and systematises good practices focused on social and governance dimensions. AUPEX fosters multi-actor co-creation, supports demonstration and replication at local level, and channels evidence-based feedback into policy processes to maximise impact and scalability.
