MSCA-PF 2026: Closed-loop circular recycling framework for MEAs in PEM water electrolysers. Iberian Center for Research in Energy Storage (CIIAE | Supervisor)

Moheddine Wehbie is a senior researcher with 12+ years of experience in hydrometallurgy, critical metals recovery and circular economy processes. His expertise includes leaching, solvent extraction, electrowinning and recycling of batteries, PEM electrolysers and energy systems. He has authored 16 publications, co-invented two international patents and supervised postdoctoral, PhD and Master’s researchers. He offers expertise in metal recovery, process scale-up, analytical techniques, industrial collaboration and scientific dissemination.

The candidate will benefit from access to advanced facilities for hydrometallurgical processing, metal separation and purification, battery and PEM electrolyser recycling, and state-of-the-art analytical techniques including ICP-AES, SEM-EDX, XRD, FTIR, NMR and chromatography. The research environment offers expertise in catalyst degradation, MEA analysis and critical raw materials recovery, alongside strong networking opportunities through European collaborations in hydrogen technologies, circular economy, battery recycling and synchrotron-based materials science.
